AMAN AT SUMMER PALACE
Beijing, China
Aman Resorts' first hotel in China is a former imperial retreat next to the Summer Palace. There are 51 beautifully designed rooms and suites in a cluster of buildings influenced, in both architecture and design, by the Ming dynasty.

Step back in time and guests staying in the original building here may well have been awaiting an audience with the Empress in the Summer Palace ? now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today's Resort, just steps from the palace, comprises a series of dwellings, most a century old or more, in which the Suites surround an open courtyard, thier ceilings open to reveal exposed roof beams; their furnishings inspired by the Ming Dynasty. Among the many dining experiences, Naoki serves French Kaiseki in which French flair meets Japaneses artisty. Relaxation is provided by an extensive spa facility, lap pool and library. Guests can access the Summer Palace through a private entrance; the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven.
