MOHAMED AMIN DIDI 1910 - Mohamed Amin Didi was born to a respectable Hura family in Male' on July 20, 1910. Amin Didi was a member of the constitution drafting committee and became the first president of the Maldives in 1953. OLYMPIC SUMMER GAMES 2012 The Asian island nation of Maldives competed at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, United Kingdom from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's seventh consecutive appearance at the Olympics. Five Divehi athletes were selected to the team, competing only in 3 different sports. Mohamed Ajfan Rasheed, the first Divehi badminton player to compete at the Olympics, was the nation's flag bearer at the opening ceremony. Maldives, however, has yet to win its first ever Olympic medal. Map
