LEON CARVALHO
Leon Carvalho was a French impresario and stage director that lived between 1825 and 1897. Born Léon Carvaille in Port-Louis, Mauritius, he came to France at an early age. He studied at the Paris Conservatory and sang as a baritone at the Opéra-Comique. He became director of the Opéra-Comique in 1876, and although he promoted many new works, his choice of repertory became somewhat conservative, emphasising the traditional French repertoire.

LOYS MASSON
Loys Masson: The French author was born in 1915 in Mauritius. He published his first novel in his home country. Besides his writing he was politically engaged. Many of his novels, poems and essays are based in Mauritius or are strongly influenced by the culture of his motherland.
