OUTHINE BOUNYAVONG
The contemporary writer died in 2000. He grew up in Laos and many of his stories celebrate traditional aspects of Laotian life. His most famous book is call "Mother's Beloved".

CHANTHI DEUANSAVANH
The Laotian writer was born in 1940 and won the South East Asia Award in 1999. He lived hidden in the jungle during 15 years with the rebels of the Lao Patriotic Front.
