The Dominican
Brussels, Belgium
The Dominican, tucked behind the famous theatre and opera house Le Monnaie, is situated in the city centre of Brussels, just off the ?Grand Place?... a new design hotel in Brussels offering a strong sense of history mixed with forward-thinking, eclectic design. Public spaces and rooms were carefully curated and designed by the renowned Dutch design duo FG stijl, whose members, Colin Finnegan and Gerard Glintmeijer, won the prestigious Prix-Villegiature Paris for Best Interior Design in 2005. The hotel?s sweeping archways are a clear reference to Brussels' Dominican abbey that stood on this site in the 15th century. Acclaimed French painter Jacques-Louis David also lived ? and painted ? here.

At the same time the hotel manages to attract a definitively style-conscious modern clientele with its cutting-edge design. The 150 guestrooms and suites ? each with an individual look ? are situated around a quiet inner courtyard and feature a rich combination of contemporary design and luxurious textiles; offering quiet comfort in a cloister-like setting. It?s a wonderful respite from the Continent?s governmental hub, and a space in which old and new Europe effortlessly meld.
