The Royal Scotsman
Scotland, United Kingdom
Mountains and lochs, purple heather and green forests - the magic of the Scottish Highlands lies in its magnificent landscapes and mysterious castles that evoke stories of legendary characters such as Bonnie Prince Charlie and Rob Roy. Travelling along a selection of different routes, this luxury train takes passengers from great cities to the remotest virgin coast. Along the way, guests disembark to meet local personalities, talk to experts on subjects from salmon fishing to gardening and take part in fun activities. Enjoy the special atmosphere of travelling through wild landscapes in a convivial country house atmosphere.

Perhaps enjoy a boat trip to spot seals in the bay, or take a bracing walk to Duncraig Castle to soak up the magical vistas of mountain ranges, clear waters and the Isle of Skye. Visits to a number of magnificent buildings are included in the tour, such as the multi-turreted Ballindalloch Castle, in Speyside, which boasts a picturesque parkland golf course, and Glamis Castle, where HM Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, spent her childhood years. You will take away enduring memories of Scotland as the train wends its way back to Edinburgh.
