Dhows are traditional wooden sailing craft, originally used for carrying exotic spices and goods along the Indian Ocean trade routes. TUSITIRI has been carefully restored and is today a majestic and comfortable vessel, based off Zanzibar and Pemba Island area and all along the East African Coast (can reach the Quirimbas Archipelago in Mozambique). TUSITIRI is a combination of simplicity and indulgence, customized for Western guests while remaining traditional in design. Nights are spent under the stars on white linen bed rolls, which are set up on deck for the night and put away by day.

There is one flushing toilet, one traditional dhow open-air toilet and an open-air warm fresh water shower. Meals, usually fresh seafood and local produce, accompanied by Good house wines, are taken al fresco on the deck. With adequate notice particular tastes and special requests are accommodated wherever possible. Lamu is a cultural heritage site; its? colorful and at times dramatic history, the seasonal trades which continue to this day up and down the coast on ancient monsoon routes and the local Muslim culture pervade the atmosphere of this bustling little town where the streets are too narrow for cars and the locals use donkeys to get around.
