Hôtel Providence Paris
10e Arr., Paris, France
In the heart of the Eastern district of Paris (5 minutes walking distance from Place de la République), the building, dating from 1854, is located behind the Renaissance and Porte Saint Martin theatres, in the Rue René Boulanger, a traditional Parisian cobbled street just waiting to be rediscovered. The hotel has witnessed the dramatic evolution of this neighborhood which includes the Haut-Marais, Beaubourg and the Canal Saint-Martin.
Everyday is an opportunity to discover new address: trendy boutiques, an emerging art gallery or the latest restaurant run by a young and talented chef. The 18 bedrooms in this boutique hotel are reached by glass-panelled lift and a staircase adorned with Madeleine Castaings banana leaf patterns. The owners Sophie Richard, Élodie and Pierre Moussié have taken painstaking care in decorating the place, down to every last nook and cranny. Made-to-measure pieces are mixed with items found in antiques shops. A lot of behind-the-scenes work has helped to create a cosy, welcoming setting here. Ramdane Touhami?s bespoke tuberose perfume mingles with mint-scented candles and wood smoke from the fireplace in the lounge; flea- market finds are carefully picked to avoid pastiche, and a modern hip-hop soundtrack (Nas is a favourite) stops the antique building from feeling staid.
To resume, the décor of Hotel Providence personifies a typical Parisian atmosphere!
