Lapostolle Residence
Colchagua Valley, Central, Chile
Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle comes from six generations of French vintners--it was her greatgrandfather who created the famous Grand Marnier liqueur. Yet in the 1990s, she set off on her own path, buy- ing vineyards in Chile to produce wines that would rival those of her family?s in France.
Madame Lapostolle worked with architects Roberto Benevente and Bernd Haller to create a state -of-the-art winery in Chile?s Colchagua Valley, two hours by car south of Santiago, for her Clos Apalta wine. Made with native woods and granite carved from the mountainside, the spacious one-bedroom casitas are decorated in a chic French-Chilean style and feature fireplaces, private decks with panoramic views, lush gardens and bathrooms boasting Jacuzzi bathtubs. For those of you who have ever fantasized about escaping to South America and starting a winery, the casitas at Clos Apalta Winery provide a perfect stage to act it out. Map
