W Hotels - one of the world's leading luxury hotel groups with properties that range from the W Retreat in the Maldives to W Istanbul - is opening a new resort in Thailand this autumn, which will be the first of its kind in the area.

Located on a hillside on Koh Samui island, the W Retreat Koh Samui will have spectacular views of the sea from its 17 secluded beachfront villas - all of which have three to five spacious bedrooms - and 75 private villas, which have panoramic views of the landscape and direct access to the beach. On arrival, those staying at the retreat will arrive at the W Koh Samui lounge, which has an indoor and outdoor area, with views of the sea below. During the day, guests can relax and sample cocktails on the round banquette seating areas submerged in an infinity pool. Later on, guests at the retreat they can choose to eat at the Retreat's signature restaurant The Kitchen Table, modern Japanese restaurant Namu or SIP Lounge.
