Ayurveda
(Sanskrit) Medical treatise summarizing the Hindu art of healing & prolonging life; regarded often as a 5th Veda
Ayurveda, which literally means the science of life (Ayur = Life, Veda = Science), ayurveda is an ancient medical science which was developed in India thousands of years ago. Believed to have been passed on to humans from the Gods themselves, Ayurveda developed and evolved into what it is today from several ancient treatises, most notably Adharva Veda which dates back to five thousand years. The ancient Vedic literature by sages has clearly laid out instructions to maintain health as well as fighting illness through therapies, massages, herbal medicines, diet control and exercise.
Ayurvedic medicine is particularly effective for metabolic, stress related, and chronic conditions. Treatments are also very helpful in relieving the effects of surgery and debilitating treatments such as chemotherapy. Other popular uses of ayurveda are for general rejuvenation and beauty care. Map
Information
Ayurveda is a pranic system of medicine, which works to balance the body?s life energy -- refered to as the doshas.
Treatments include diet, different types of massage, pouring herbal liquid onto the body, and covering the body with herbal leaves and powders. Ayurveda doctors will find the root of your problem. 10 to 14 days are needed to complete a full course of ayurvedic treatment. However it?s also possible to get simple renewal treatments, such as ayurvedic massage, by themselves. |
