Cuixmala is many things. First and foremost, it is an extraordinary10,000 hectare nature preserve that is part of the larger Chamela-Cuixmala Biosphere Reserve. Second, it is a working plantation. And third, it is a luxury resort where you get to experience this very special part of the world while enjoying the comforts of a world-class hotel. The late Sir James Goldsmith purchased the land for Cuixmala in 1987 and built his villa, La Loma, on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. During his lifetime he created a foundation to study, protect, and restore Cuixmala?s landscape and wildlife, work that is now overseen by his family. In 2004, the Goldsmith family opened Cuixmala to the public and today revenue from the hotel helps to underwrite the work of the Cuixmala Ecological Foundation, which gives every guest who stays with us a stake in the future of this rare and precious place.
Virtually everything we serve ? from orange juice and morning coffee to salads, cheese, fish, and meat ? is organically grown, raised, and fished here at Cuixmala or in the mountains at our sister property?s Rancho Jabalí. Our cooks are expert at straightforward, rustic recipes and Mexican specialties and are always happy to accommodate guest preferences and allergies.

WEATHER
Cuixmala has two seasons: wet and dry. Both seasons have unique pleasures:
? The wet season, which begins in June and ends in November, it typically rains in the afternoon and temperatures are comparatively warmer. Temperatures reach upper 20°C and low 30°C, at night mid-20°C
? During the dry season, which begins in November and ends in June, expect bright sunshine, very low humidity, only a rare rain shower & cooler temperatures. Mid to upper-20°C at daytime, with evening temperatures averaging in the upper-teens.
