Ghalib Halasa lived between 1932 and 1989 and was an author and journalist. Because of his oppositional behaviour he was banned from Jordan.

Garabed Antranikian was born in 1951 in Amman. He is a biologist and was awarded in 2004 with the "German Environmental Award", Europe's highest remunerated environment award
