SIR EDMUND HILLARY
Sir Edmund Hillary was born in 1919 and died in 2008. He was a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer and philanthropist. On 29 May 1953, Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers confirmed as having reached the summit of Mount Everest.

KATHERINE MANSFIELD
Katherine Mansfield lived between 1888 and 1923 and was a prominent modernist writer of short fiction who was born and brought up in colonial New Zealand and wrote under the pen name of Katherine Mansfield. Her stories often focus on moments of disruption and frequently open rather abruptly.
